Many of us hide our true feelings behind the smile that we show others. We act happy even when we’re sad or depressed, we laugh when we want to cry or scream, and we pretend to be strong when we are feeling weak or beaten. I'm writing this article to look at why we sometimes do this and how it can sometimes hurt us. We want to share with you on how you can find real happiness in your own journey.

Do You Hide Behind Your Smile

Our PDF Downloadable Behind the Smile: A Self-Reflection & Growth Journal

The world seems to always tell us that being happy is the way we always need to be. Because of this, we often hide our sadness behind a fake smile, thinking it makes us look weak to others but in reality we are being weak to ourselves.
We might laugh too loudly, agree to events we don’t like nor want to attend, or even go as far as posting happy pictures on social media, even when we’re struggling on the inside.

Hiding our feelings will make us feel isolated and withdrawn from the world. We then think that no one understands us, leading to even more feelings of loneliness.

It can be hard to open up and be honest with others about how we truly feel on the inside.

I was doing my TikTok live earlier this week and someone shared with us about their personal drug addiction and the path they are on to recovery. They even shared the effects it had with their family, finances and career.
It's too easy to turn to quick fixes like alcohol, drugs, or food to escape the pain they are experiencing. While these might help for a quick moment, they will not solve the real deeper issues. Using substances can numb our feelings but this will often make things worse in the long run. Relying on substances can lead to addictions and serious health issues, making it harder to face and share our true feelings.

Facing Your Pain and How to Find Real Happiness In Your Personal Journey.

The first step to heal and find peace is admitting you're hurting. It’s okay to feel sad or angry. Talking about these feelings with someone will help you heal.
I am always promoting for everyone that writing in a journal or sharing with a friend is an excellent start.

Look for healthy ways to cope. Try activities like exercise, art, or mindfulness to express how you feel.
Find joy in the small things, which can help shift your focus and bring genuine happiness.

Building Your Support System
Surround yourself with people who accept your true feelings. Sharing your struggles with people you trust will create a deeper connection.
You can join groups or get involved in communities where you can connect with others going through similar experiences.

Moving from hiding your pain behind a smile to embracing your true feelings is not easy, but it’s important for finding real happiness. By acknowledging your pain, seeking healthy ways to cope, and building supportive relationships, you will create a more joyful and authentic life and will create beauty in your journey.

Notes for your journaling
